About

Michael is an academic and socio-legal researcher in The University of New South Wales. His academic and professional backgrounds include construction project management, commercial law and dispute resolution. Michael is an Accredited Adjudicator for New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, and a Member of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB).

Michael’s main research interests are security of payment and statutory adjudication in the building and construction industry. He is the founding Director of the newly established Adjudication Research + Reporting Unit (ARRU), which is funded by the NSW Department of Finance & Services and hosted by UNSW Built Environment.

Michael is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Law in the Built Environment (Emerald Group Publishing, UK). He plays an active role in the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (known simply as CIB) as a founding Coordinator of Task Group 67 on Statutory Adjudication in Construction. Task Group 67 operates within the broader framework of CIB Working Commission 113 (W113) on Law and Dispute Resolution in Property, Construction & the Built Environment.
