About
Emmi Nevalainen is a post graduate student completing a PhD at the University of New South Wales, Australia, on the work of Beiruti artist Akram Zaatari and Lebanese born artist Walid Raad in terms of 'truth' and Lebanon’s post-civil war social and political milieu. Research is titled: Unresolved: truth, time and the document in the work of Akram Zaatari and Walid Raad.
She graduated with First Class Honours in 2008 with her thesis: ‘Representation as Politicised Practice – Between the critique and practice of representation in the art of Walid Raad/The Atlas Group.’ Emmi won the Owen Harries Prize for Excellence in International Relations in 2006, and is the on going recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Award.
