About
Anu has a degree in Architecture, Masters of Architecture, and a PhD in Built Environment granted in 2008. The doctorate was on John Ruskin's theory of architecture, and it made a substantial contribution to the body of knowledge by delineating a nineteenth century challenge to disciplinary definition of architecture, utilizing multidisciplinary lenses of architecture, interior architecture, and the decorative arts, fine arts, medicine, textile and dress studies, morality, and feminism.
She possesses a record of a variety of high quality publications, which include invited book chapters, journal articles, refereed and selected conference proceedings, invited reviews of exhibitions, and the leadership role of the founding and leading editor of a refereed online journal, in addition to pursuing simultaneous research agendas of nineteenth century scholarship on surface and cultural studies; surface, interior and exterior in contemporary Australian architecture through the David Saunders Grant; and Emergent architecture, making contributions on debates in architecture as well as being reflective about the crafting of spaces and interior environments
Anu has taught Architecture Design Studios at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels for over 7 years in various schools, receiving high satisfaction rate in student evaluations; Closely directed Year 2 students (UNSW, 2008, 2009) in projects focussed on room making, and the development of a sensibility of the interior through the use of light, openings, and materiality. She has Taught Architecture + Interior Architecture studio in Year 1 (UNISA, 2008) focussing on the translations between memory, text/object, threshold, and habitable. Anu has also Led and taught in leadership roles as Co-Convenor and Studio Leader in MArch Graduation Studio (UNSW, 2010), and have guided projects from large scale precincts to fine grain spatially oriented projects
