About

Annette was trained in classical anthropology and spent many years living in remote indigenous communities in Australia.  With the introduction of satellite television into these remote regions she refocussed her work on media and cultural transformations.  She has worked in media and film in Southeast Asia since the mid-1980s especially film in Thailand.  Recently her main interest has been in film in the socialist and post-socialist states and she is currently writing a book on Cambodian cinema.  Her many publications on Australian indigenous communities (1974-1990s) are listed here but only more recent papers reflecting current research interests will be uploaded.
