About

I am undertaking a creative practice PhD in the School of Arts & Media hoping to submit in May 2012.

My novel - 'The Quiet Noise' (working title) - is set in post World War 2 Sydney in the wake of a brutal murder in a Newtown cemetery. The story explores the impact of the mysterious killing on a local teenage boy struggling to support himself in the crumbling era of the fading sly grog and prostitution dynasties.

In 2006 I was shortlisted for the Australian Vogel Award and I've been the recipient of an Australian Society of Authors Mentorship Award as well as a Marrickville Council Arts Development Grant.

My writing has appeared in Voiceworks, Herding Kites, Slit & WQ. I have tutored Creative Writing at UNSW since 2010.
